focuses on R&I activities in the field of glass with specific functional properties (luminescent, electric), functionalization of conventional glasses to give them new properties, and the utilisation of waste materials to produce glass and glass-ceramics with high added value with the use of advanced technologies, including additive manufacturing.
Specifically, TNUAD will be represented by FunGlass - Centre for functional and surface-functionalized glasses. FunGlass has been supported by 3 H2020 grants to upgrade the existing Centre of excellence for ceramics, glass and silicate materials (CEKSiM) in Trenčín, Slovakia, to internationally recognized Centre for Functional and Surface-functionalized Glasses (FunGlass) focusing on cutting edge research in the area of glasses with special functional properties and functionalization of conventional glasses to modify their properties and add new functionalities. FunGlass and TNUAD now will be able to bring this investment and international experience to kick start the broader innovation community with the GlaCerHub project.
