The V4 Liaison Offices organized an intensive capacity-building event in Brussels during Autumn 2024, aimed at enhancing the skills and awareness of research project managers (RPMs) within the context of the European Union’s research and innovation (R&I) programmes. The training focused on the EU Framework Programmes for R&I, while also addressing the broader political and operational environment of EU research initiatives. Participants included R&I support personnel from both public and private organizations, such as project managers, coordinators, and support officers.
Diverse Participation Across Europe
The event brought together 52 research and project managers primarily from V4 countries (Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, and Slovakia). Additionally, representatives from Austria, the Netherlands, Romania, Lithuania, Estonia, and Slovenia attended, contributing to a vibrant exchange of knowledge and best practices. On the second day, participants also engaged in discussions with colleagues from Spain, a country recognized for its success in grant acquisition, tech transfer, and academic-industry collaboration. These exchanges provided valuable insights into effective approaches to R&I project management.

One highlight was a roundtable discussion where participants shared experiences and strategies for optimizing project management and leveraging EU funding opportunities.
Special Workshop with Expert Insights
On the final day, attendees participated in a workshop titled Good Practices in Project Management, led by the seasoned expert Marc Berghmans. His session provided actionable insights and practical strategies for managing complex R&I projects, ensuring impactful takeaways for all attendees.
